Cooking for the church family

THis was our third meal to cook for the church over the last 2 years. It is getting easier. The food was actually ready and we were waiting for people to show up this time. THe first time - the dinner wasn't cooking fast enough and we had a line of people waiting, waiting, waiting. Last night was fun compared to that first try.  We served spiral cut ham, mashed potatoes, and black-eyed peas (for New Years Luck), actually, they were on sale.  The only left overs were peas. Commander was happily cutting slices off and handing out two at a time. Then he looked up at the line of people, down at the ham, and gasped, "I don't know if we are going to have enough." The portions dropped in size and the last person to ask for ham ended up with the chunks that had dropped to the bottom of the pan off the bone.  You might say it was another feeding miracle that so many people ate off one ham bone.

We will cook again Feb. 29th LEAP YEAR.  We are trying to come up with some different - off the wall kind of menu. Any ideas?

Your meal was great - loved the black-eyed peas! My idea for a Leap Year Day meal is to play on the word Leap and have "leap year frog legs" aka bbq chicken legs or wings. Add some green things with them because frogs are green.

We thought of frog legs, but didn't think to switch it for something cheaper. We might try to find the chocolate frogs (Harry Potter) or green frog chewies.
THanks for the alternative to frog legs.
